Honeydew

The honeydew is a sugary substance secreted by some small insects (aphids, cochineals, psillas, etc.) which nourish of the sap of the trees, in particular spruce, pine, oak, linden and maple. The honeydew is very rich in substances such as minerals and sugars and is a useful source of nourishment for ants and bees and for them is an important source of livelihood. Honeydew honey is less sweet than other honey because it has less sugar. The taste can recall the bark and leaves in the mouth a bitter aftertaste that can recall the taste of the mould.
